Solidarity with runners from Kenya!

I was surfing on internet and I hesitated between different models of trail shoes … and then I came across this photo and call Patrick for help to equip its team riders.

I thought we had to act, or rather react, and make my runnings used, which languished in my garage, at the foot end of the Kenyan runners.

I sent the day after two pairs of running shoes and some T-shirts. But this is not enough and I thought you could help me to help them.

How? Nothing more simple:

You put two pairs used in a box with some T-Shirts or textiles that you no longer use to a maximum weight of 2.0 kgs runnings.

You go to your favorite post office and proceed to send you for only 17 euros (Paquet Prio International Service) to the following address:

PATRICK KAHORO,
Tigoni BAPTIST CHURCH,
PO BOX 429
Limuru KENYA, ZIP 00217.

You do not mention especially put value on the shipment to avoid customs fees on arrival (if a box is to inform write “gift”).

You understand, it is solidarity between riders and to make more personal approach, I suggest you leave a message to the team of Patrick on my blog.

What goal will let crazy! Operations 100 pairs of running shoes for Kenya! I know your generosity and I know we will. As I often say “the running will save the world“.

You will find the composition of the team at the end of the interview now I propose you to discover.

————————————————————————————————————-

In my wanderings on the web, I met a very nice Kenyan Patrick Kahoro. We exchanged on facebook and I wanted to understand what his activity manager riders.

As a marathon runner, I always envied the Kenyan runners enjoying their impeccable stride … but I do not doubt for a moment that in Kenya many riders also resulted hard to hopefully someday achieve fame on major marathons .

THE INTERVIEW:

1) Patrick, you train a group of 20 runners in Kenya. Can you introduce yourself?

pk11

I’m 36 years old and I live in Limuru near Nairobi. I coach a group of twenty athletes, 14 men and 6 women. I started training when I was still at school in 2006 and I created the club in 2009.

In our area, there was no sporting activity and thus not running. It was a new sport for people and they thought I was crazy when I ran!

During my first training sessions, young riders understood as the sport was difficult! The race was barefoot.

2) How do you finance your team?

We do not have a sponsor and we do enjoy a few donations from people of goodwill interested in sports or wishing to accompany our approach to sports education of our youth. Athletes living with the support of their parents and the objective is to devote themselves completely to the race.

3) Can you describe us a week of training guy?

– Monday, 15 km easy run,
– Tuesday: Working session mainly speed of 400 meters and 800 meters
– Wednesday: endurance speed 5, 10 or 15 kms
– Thursday: workouts rib
– Friday: Quick fartlek
– Saturday: long output from 30 to 40 kms
– Sunday: competition

pk12

4) What are the objectives of this team?

The objective of the team is to love the sport to the local population to avoid leaving inactive youth so that they will not be tempted by evil activities (eg drugs)

5) What the members of the dream team?

Our goal is to train hard to win easily. We dream of beating world records over long distances, half marathon and marathon.

pk13

6) In your opinion what are the riders with the most potential?

The elite of our team consists of three men, Edwin Kibet, Patrick Kahoro, Peter Njuguna and 2 women Anastashia Wanjiru and Mary Wambui.

7) What are their best references chronometric?

The best times are 2h19mn on marathon for men and 2:33 for women mn (on half-marathon, 1h 06min and 1h 19mn)

8) In France, the riders wonder why Kenyans run so fast? What are your secrets?

There are no secrets in running. He must get up early at 5am for a first drive, which allows the linking with a second session at noon and a third meeting in late afternoon to 17 h00. Obviously, we must treat his diet by eating natural foods with an emphasis on carbohydrates and fruits.

pk16

9) I saw some pictures that your riders were not suitable running shoes. Can you tell us what equipment you would need?

In Kenya, we have good legs and lungs, but unfortunately not the best shoe and not appropriate equipment. Kenya does not produce shoe … just athletes. We need shoes and textiles such tights / suits and some watches.

Freerunner: Patrick Thanks for your time and congratulations for what you do for your country and respect for the level of training that you impose. This is awesome. I‘m sure your passionate commitment will generate an outpouring of generosity from my readers and friends.

Patrick Kahoro : thank you for your interview which I hope will help us to lead us even harder but with better equipment. We are totally passionate about running and we would be happy that division is not possible with you.
